AllenPestaluky IT WORKED FIRST TRY!!!

Over the last week I started working on a vector based game engine that outputs sound waves that will render on an oscilloscope — and it works! The sound that you’re hearing is the sound of a rotating wireframe cube when viewed in XY mode on a scope!pic.twitter.com/bmDh0v2rXGG

Dear TV crime writers: if your intricate plot depends on a gun with a silencer, maybe make it an automatic rather than a revolver.

It was The Bicester Times, it was the Worcester Times.

Robbotron This is my favourite gaming fact:

In Fallout 3, the game couldn’t support a train for the player to ride in, but it could make NPCs walk - so the devs made the train a hat.

benmekler My dad is in New Orleans for the first time and called me with a childlike sense of wonder I have never heard in his voice before. He said “this is a happy place”, “all of the food is good”, and “I saw a dog parade and there was a chihuahua in a wig, she was the princess”

razorsmile Once again, we see William Gibson’s “breakbulk”, his metaphor for vital knowledge locked in the silo of human heads/unique milieu, not yet democratized into college course or repeatable algorithm.

Samo Burja implies that our society cannot survive without the undemocratizable. twitter.com/longnow/status…

Very much enjoying the mood of The Pale Horse (while being glad, I think, that I never read the book @_pigeons_ !) Overall atmosphere of creeping evil somewhat deflated occasionally by the bits where I realise the Easterbrooks apparently live near my dentist on Queen Square 😅)

scalzi For me it was “The Dark is Rising” book and series from Susan Cooper. I felt the same way about possibly becoming an Old One as a generation of children would feel about waiting for their invitation to Hogwart’s a couple of decades later. Still waiting for it. It could happen. twitter.com/neilhimself/st…

heydonworks For your web career, you have two choices:

1) Pick a specific niche, and make a name for yourself in it. Resent that’s all people now see you for, feel trapped, burn out

2) Be a generalist, struggle to keep up with everything, languish in obscurity due to unclear personal brand

Went into a @ThreeUK store to upgrade. They said they could do me a cheaper deal if I signed up as a new customer and cancelled old contract. Phoned @ThreeUK to cancel the old contract and was basically called an idiot for going into the @ThreeUK shop and doing what they told me.

brockway_llc I’ve just lost my job at Cracked. Thread for the full story, but short version: I need your help. I’ve launched a Patreon here: bit.ly/31IVdsj And I have a new book up for pre-order RIGHT NOW: amzn.to/2Hdqev6 It releases next week. No delayed gratification here.
