@RoddyJenkins @RadioKate One thing I found helpful is that there’s often a crossword discussion forum to be found somewhere these days so you can learn from other solvers (e.g. times-xwd-times.livejournal.com, fifteensquared.net, bigdave44.com)
@RoddyJenkins @RadioKate The Times has a “Quick Cryptic” which is a bit more gentle, but yeah, it can be hard to get started. (At least the online version does; don’t know about the actual paper version.)
